Bhongir Fort is located 51 km from Hyderabad in Nalgonda district in the Indian state of Telangana. It sits upon a single rock formation on a hilltop. More than 500 ft high and spread over an area of 40 acres, the impregnable fort was built in the 12th century by Western Chalukya ruler Tribhuvanamalla Vikramaditya. It has a unique egg-shaped construction with two entry points that are protected by huge rocks. A moat that encircles the fort, a vast underground chamber, trap doors, an armory, stables, ponds etc., make it a great tourist spot. The panoramic view of the countryside from the top of the fort is breathtaking.
